To initiate and nurture a growing relationship with Christ.

MBIC Mission Statement

OUR VISION

WE ARE JESUS-CENTERED IN ALL THAT WE DO

We communicate the Gospel-God’s reconciling work through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection- in all of our environments not just as the entry point to Heaven, but that we ALL need Christ at every turn.

WE ENCOURAGE AND EQUIP OUR MBIC FAMILY FOR ALL-OF-LIFE-WORSHIP

As the Gospel puts down roots in our lives, we desire to grow in surrendering our own lives, preferences, and agendas as we seek God’s glory.

WE PUSH PRAYER DEEP INTO OUR ENVIRONMENTS

We will pray as our first response, NOT the option that we turn to after we’ve expended our own resources, energy, and ideas. We tap into a quality of prayer that invites God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done.

WE ENCOURAGE AND EQUIP OUR MBIC FAMILY IN THEIR MISSIONARY IDENTITIES

If we are to be the church beyond our four walls-relationships, community, and serving those around us must be constant drivers. For this reason, we encourage and equip our people to courageously reach beyond themselves and to show Christ’s love wherever God might place them.

WE CREATE A CULTURE OF LOVE, WELCOME AND BELONGING

We desire to create a culture of welcome at MBIC. To that end, we encourage our MBIC family in the power of creating a culture of grace and hospitality.

Manheim BIC is a part of the Brethren In Christ denomination. Below are a few bullet points that show what our denominational beliefs are.

  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for faith and practice.
  • We believe that the Scriptures reveal the triune God whose person, nature and character forever is God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is the source and foundation of all that is. God has established order and relationships within creation.
  • We believe that God created man and women in His image. Because human beings chose to disobey God, their nature became sinful resulting in alienation from God, from one another, from themselves, and from the rest of creation.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ, God’s Son, came to earth to reveal the Father and to provide God’s only plan of salvation for sinful humanity. New life in Christ is given to all who turn from evil through faith in the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit enables the believer to make full surrender to the work of Christ and to walk in the fullness of the Spirit’s power.
  • We believe that the Holy Spirit works in the world, intercedes for the believer, and is present in the life of the church, gifting persons for witness and service. The church is God’s primary means for worship fellowship, evangelism, and discipleship.
  • We believe that the return of Christ in power and glory is certain and may occur at any time. The final destiny of all things is in God’s hands. God will judge righteously at the close of the age. All created things will be brought to their proper order in the eternal Kingdom.

MBIC has always been a church concerned with connecting people with Jesus and one another. In 1908 a small group of people had a vision, a calling, to plant a church in the town of Manheim, Pennsylvania. The spark ignited and the congregation soon outgrew their small building in town. In 1977, the leaders of the church took a bold step of faith and decided to purchase land to build a church that would allow their growing body to expand beyond the boundaries of their small property in town. That vision became a reality at 54 North Penryn Road where our current facilities stand.

MBIC has continued to reach into the community and the current church building has been utilized in many ways. In 1998 the decision was made to add a separate multipurpose facility to help meet the needs of the rapidly growing youth programs at MBIC. As our church family continued to expand, the addition of several church services was necessary to accommodate our increasing numbers. In 2004 we had another challenge; our attendance continued to increase and we felt the need to provide even more space for our worship services. It was decided at that time to use the multipurpose facility as our primary worship space. During the following years up to today, MBIC continues to use its expanded facilities recently completing an addition to the Activity Center, doubling our space for our children’s ministry and ending with our main worship space—the Assembly. All of this to continue our primary purpose “to initiate and nurture a growing relationship with Christ.”
